Welcome to the Learning Page for Families. We are currently in the process of reviewing our learning offer for families ready to launch in April 2021.

Thanks to an ACE Cultural Recovery Fund grant we have the capacity to offer some free digital sessions to families during this period so please get in touch if the following interests you.

In the Gallery

Our museum is family-friendly all year round. In the gallery there is a selection of 'Explorer' and 'Professor Colour' Discovery bags as well as a family-friendly children's area with an interactive lightbox. Children's trails are available during school holidays. During the school holidays we have a range of activities designed especially for families.

Holiday Activities and Events

Children's Glass Fusing
The Stained Glass Museum runs glass fusing workshops for children at two levels. Level 1 is designed for beginners, and Level 2 for those who would like to develop their glass fusing skills.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

SGMinis

Our SGMinis sessions are held monthly for under 5's, their older siblings and parents/carers. Each 1.5 hour drop-in session (10:30am-12:00pm) has a different theme and includes a themed story and craft session, as well as creative play.
Upcoming SGMinis sessions
SGMinis are £2 per child, to cover craft costs, including refreshments for all.
No booking required; drop-in during advertised times.

Safeguarding: Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times when attending our workshops.

Access: All of our workshops take place in the museum which is accessed via a stone spiral staircase of approximately 40 steps. Buggy park and toilet facilities available on the ground floor of the Cathedral.
